JoJo Siwa weighed in on speculations surrounding her latest hit single Karma.
Speaking to TMZ regarding the swirling rumours, she acknowledged the root of the speculations and set the record straight.
“I did not steal anything”, the Kid in A Candy Store singer said.
“There’s is no such thing as stealing”, Jojo made it clear suggesting that the origin of the rumours must be the involvement of track producer Rock Mafia, who had written many hit songs for various artists including Can’t Be Tamed for Miley Cyrus and Potential Breakup Song for Aly & Aj.
“What happens is people write songs, and then, they don't do anything with them”, the 20-year-old dancer said shedding light on the complex songwriting process.
Explaining that a song may not immediately find a home, then “a few years later, it makes sense for another artist”, she admitted that the song was ‘old’ but it doesn’t bother her.
“I was pitched it. I loved it, was obsessed with it, so I grasped onto it. That's a very normal thing."
“I knew that it was a special song. I knew that it fit. I knew that it was exactly the vision that I wanted to create for the world”, the So You Think You Can Dance judge continued.
The controversial song that Jojo released on April 5, was described as “such a head-turner" by her.
“Whether people like it or not, marketing plan worked”, the Omaha, Nebraska local concluded.
