Civil War secured number one spot at the box office with an impressive 25.7 million dollars in ticket sales.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alex Garland's film surpassed expectations, marking A24 studio's biggest opening to date.

Set against a backdrop of political turmoil, the film depicts a nation at war with itself, mirroring real-life tensions between supporters of former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.

The storyline follows a wartime photojournalist, portrayed by Kirsten Dunst, and her colleagues as they navigate through a hostile landscape ruled by an authoritarian three-term president, played by Nick Offerman.

The film, released on April 12th, coincides with a heated election year, adding another layer of relevance to its narrative.

While the movie received mixed reviews from audiences, its appeal to male viewers was evident, comprising over two-thirds of its audience.

Notably, Dev Patel's action-packed film Monkey Man faced tough competition in its second weekend, slipping to sixth or seventh place behind blockbuster hits like Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
