Film producer Carol Baum gives shocking remarks to Sydney Sweeny

Sydney Sweeny is among the young rising stars and one of Hollywood's most talked-about actresses but she was recently blasted by one of Hollywood's top female producers saying ‘she can't act’.

During the screening of Carol Baum’s 1988 film Dead Ringers starring Jeremy Irons, the film producer spoke with New York Times film critic Janet Maslin and she did not hold back while criticizing the 26-year-old actress.

Carol said in front of the audience, ”There's an actress who everybody loves now - Sydney Sweeney.”

While recalling Sydney’s Anyone But You film she noted, “I don't get Sydney Sweeney. I was watching on the plane Sydney Sweeney's movie because I wanted to watch it.”

Carol told Maslin, “I wanted to know who she is and why everybody's talking about her.”

However, Carol mentioned her disapproval of the movie, “I watched this unwatchable movie- sorry to people who love this movie - [this] romantic comedy where they hate each other.”

Baum continued on to say while referencing the producing class she teaches at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, Baum said, "I said to my class, "Explain this girl to me. She's not pretty, she can't act. Why is she so hot?''

“Nobody had an answer,” Baum added.

Carol Baum has produced 34 films including the remake of Dead Ringers and last year published a book entitled Creative Producing.

Sweeney won an Emmy nomination for her role in the HBO series Euphoria. In the past six months, she has starred in three films including Anyone But You, Madame Web, and Immaculate.
