Melissa Barrera has moved on from her Scream exit as she embraced the love and support received for her upcoming flick Abigail.
Followed by her controversial exit from the horror franchise, the 33-year-old actress was astounded by the immense support she received for her upcoming movie.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the actress weighed in on the movie’s significance in her personal life.
“It’s been incredible”, she said, “It was so unexpected. For some reason, I did not expect to get so much support and to feel like an army behind me. And it was so beautiful”.
“I've gotten the chance to go to conventions since and actually meet the fans and continue to hear from them, the support and that they're with me and that they have my back. It's just so special”, she added.
Melissa also admitted that ever since the controversy, this is the first movie that made her optimistic towards future filmmaking.
She said, “It gives me so much strength to move forward and keep doing great stuff for them and keep making movies and shows for them”.
Admitting she’s "excited” for the film’s release, the Keep Breathing actress said, “I'm so proud of what we did”, before praising Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett for their screenwriting.
It is worth mentioning here that the Monterrey, Mexico native was fired from the horror franchise after she showed support for Palestine on social media. Melissa also dubbed the experience as a ‘big awakening’.
