Veteran journalist Haider Taqi breathes his last

His funeral prayers will be offered at Karachi's Defence Phase IV Imambargah Yasrab at 1:30pm

Veteran journalist and incharge of Daily Jang’s editorial page Syed Haider Taqi breathed his last in Karachi on Sunday after prolonged illness and will be laid to rest in the metropolis today, The News reported on Monday.

Born into a family of intellectual and literary elite, his father, Syed Muhammad Taqi, was a philosopher and former editor of the Daily Jang. 

Meanwhile, renowned poet and columnist Raees Amrohvi and poet Jaun Elia were his uncles.

Remembered for his wit and humour, the deceased's funeral prayers will be held at 1:30pm at Defence Phase IV Imambargah Yasrab.

His burial will take place at the Defence Phase VIII graveyard in Karachi.

The deceased is survived by his widow and three children — a son and two daughters.
