You might want to check your $1 bills closely for errors before using them for lottery tickets.
USA Today, citing information from WealthyNickel, reported that currency collectors may pay up to $150,000 for two bills with the same error.
The report revealed that in 2014 and 2016, the United States Bureau of Engraving and Printing printed two batches of $1 bills with a specific error, which went into circulation before it was noticed.
The first batch was issued in New York, and the second in Washington DC, totaling 6.4 million banknotes.
If the bills have the right conditions and match the serial number, currency collectors are willing to pay between $20,000 and $150,000 for a pair of these batches.
The report cited instructions from WealthyNickel to check your $1 bills for these errors.
It stated that the banknote must feature a series date that reads "Series 2013." This can be found on the right side of the George Washington photograph.
Additionally, the bill must also have the "B" Federal Reserve Seal above the serial number.
Lastly, the serial number on the banknote features a star and sits somewhere between "B00000001★ – B00250000★" or "B03200001★-B09600000★"
According to WealthyNickel, only nine of these extremely rare pairs have been matched, leaving millions of these special $1 bills out there.
