Meta-owned instant messaging app, WhatsApp, has rolled out a new user interface with an updated design which will give the messenger a “fresh new look”.
The company said in its latest post on X that the design will be new but the app will still be familiar and easy to use.
Here is how WhatsApp will be changing after the update:
The messenger also released a video to represent the changes for both Android and iOS.
The latest changes to WhatsApp are being widely rolled out to iOS and Android users but they also offer a deeper dark mode for the latter, WABetaInfo reported.
These updates aim to modernise the app’s look while preserving its core functionality.
The WhatsApp news tracker stated the new features on the updated interface in detail. It said that the new icons are designed to help users find what they need more quickly, while the updated illustrations with added animations offer a bit of fun.
The darker dark mode for WhatsApp Android focuses on higher contrast and deeper tones to reduce eye strain in low-light settings, which also enhances visual appeal and legibility, WABetaInfo stated.
Moreover, a more modern, native bottom navigation bar, like iOS, has been added to the app for Android to help users find what they need more quickly.
For iOS, sending photos and videos has been simplified with a new attachment layout.
“Instead of a full-screen menu, there’s now an expandable tray, allowing users to access features like media, polls, documents, and more with greater clarity.”
Both the Android and iOS apps now offer chat filters, making it easier to focus on and locate important conversations.
The new interface has been made available to almost everyone. However, if it is still unavailable to anyone, they should wait for the next app update.
