Sam Altman’s OpenAI is expected to unveil "magical" updates today (Monday) and reports suggest that the company may introduce a new voice assistant with the potential to detect sarcasm.

The tech firm is set to host a livestream scheduled for today where it will unveil new updates on its Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) technology.

However, according to a report by The Information, the firm might unveil a multimodal AI assistant.

This AI assistant may improve the existing automated customer service agent technology with features like better logical reasoning and a better understanding of images and audio.

"The assistant could theoretically do a range of things not possible today, such as acting as a tutor for a student working on a paper or on math problems, or giving people information about their surroundings when they ask for it, like translating signs or explaining how to fix car troubles," the report said.

However, the technology is still prone to AI hallucinations, where models spit out answers that have no basis in reality.

This new tech could eventually be integrated into the publicly available and free version of OpenAI's popular chatbot ChatGPT, making it even more useful for users.
