In a rather positive development in light of the prevailing political situation in the country, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur Monday met Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad for a second time in two days.

During the meeting, also attended by Federal Minister for Energy Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, federal interior secretary and KP chief secretary, the two sides mulled over various issues faced by the province.

The development comes after the the federal ministers and the KP CM met on Sunday at the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad with the huddle acknowledging the progress made on electricity loadshedding in the province and agreed to meet again today.

It is pertinent to know that the KP government and the Centre have been at odds over prolonged power cuts in the province with CM Gandapur even threatening to take control of the power distribution company, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) after decrying the excessive power outages in the province.

On Saturday, enraged citizens in Peshawar had even stormed into the Hazar khawani grid station, after incessant loadshedding led to protests in the midst of scorching weather.

The provincial government has also been raising the issue of dues that are owed to it by the federal government.

The interaction between the KP CM and federal ministers follows the apex committee meeting of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) which was attended by CM Gandapur, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir and other senior officials and office bearers.
