Lahore: Five dead as a wreck of a building caves in

LAHORE: At least five people including a woman died after a three-story building caved in burying seven of a family under tonnes of rubble here on Friday morning, Geo News reported.

Rescuers have jumped into action at the site of this tragic urban accident which befell a poor family in Tibbi City area of Lahore, sources said.

Two other occupants pulled out from under the debris alive but critically injured were ambulanced to hospital, rescue sources said.

Awfully in need of repairs it was an old wreck of a building that collapsed after it could no longer carry its own weight, said the rescue sources.

"No one should have been living in such a wobbly lodging in the first place. It could have toppled anytime. The owners must have rebuilt it from the ground long ago”, they added.
