KABUL: Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for a suicide attack on a police complex in Kabul Monday as explosions and gunfire were heard in the west of the capital.

"Today at around 5:00 am a large number of fedayee (suicide bombers) entered a building in Dehmazang and are attacking an American training centre, a police centre and other military centres and have caused heavy casualties on the enemy," spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in an SMS message to AFP.
