ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Admiral (retired) Fasih Bokhari has written a letter to President Asif Ali Zardari outlining pressures faced by the bureau which may hamper investigations.
In the letter Bokhari states that he may be forced to resign if the pressure continues from other institutions and the media. According to Bokhari the work of NAB is being affected due to the several problems being faced.
Bokhari describes the pressures as being so severe that NAB officials may lose their independence and investigations will also be impacted. Bokhari further said that he is bound to implement the law and according to the NAB ordinance action will be taken against individuals who are in violation of the law.
NAB is currently investigating high profile cases such as the Rental Power Projects (RPP) scam which took a turn with the mysterious death of Kamran Faisal, one of the investigation officers into the case.
