KARACHI: Hackers on Monday broke into the servers of PKNIC, affecting accessibility of the country's several websites including The News International (www.thenews.com.pk) and the Daily Jang (www.jang.com.pk).
However, the websites after remaining unplugged for a few hours became accessible later to the visitors.
The website of Daily Jang is the most visited Urdu news website not just in Pakistan but across the world and its inaccessibility today caused great inconvenience to hundreds of thousands of visitors.
Earlier today, the hackers, who call themselves, PakBugs claimed intruding into a database of PKNIC and overriding complete control of the country's sole registrar of Pakistani websites' domain names (.com.pk, .pk, .org.pk, etc).
Despite complaints lodged by the website owners, the PKNIC technical support remained unavailable for several hours on phone nor did they respond to the emails.
