Meta-owned app WhatsApp has announced plans to roll out new icons for communities and their linked groups on iOS devices.

To make it easier for users to distinguish community groups from other regular groups, the new update includes a refreshed design where the community announcement group features a new layout, reported WABetaInfo.

Moreover, groups linked to communities are also recognisable with the community icon always visible behind the group icon. The Meta app already offers this option to Android users.

Notably, within the chats list, some beta testers on iOS are already experimenting with the new icons introduced on Android last year. This is making it easier for them to identify community-related chats directly from the chat list.

A new green community announcement group symbol with a megaphone overlaying the community icon, which provides a clear visual distinction from other regular chats, has been included in the updated icons.

Additionally, the community icon behind the group icon is now prominently displayed by the groups linked to a community in order to further enhance the user experience by allowing for quick identification of the linked groups.

The new feature will be available for more people over the coming days as some beta testers can already access it.
