ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaurdhy has taken suo moto notice of the killing of members of the Hazara community.
Attorney General Pakistan and Advocate General Balochistan have been summoned to the Supreme Court on Tuesday where the case will be heard in an open court.
The Hazara community has been subjected to several attacks in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan. On Saturday, at least 89 members of the community including women and children were killed when a deadly bomb ripped through a vegetable market on Kirani road.
Following the attack, the Hazara community is staging a sit-in alongside the bodies of the victims on Alamdar road in Quetta. The vice president of the Majlis-e-Wahadat-e-Muslimeen, Maulana Amin Shaheedi says the victims of the blast will not be buried and nationwide protests will continue unless restrictions are placed on banned organizations and the army is handed over control of Quetta.
