Quetta carnage: SC to hear suo moto case today
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear a suo motu case into the killing of members of Hazara community in Quetta, today (Tuesday).

Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaurdhy took suo moto notice of the incessant violence against the community on Monday.


Attorney General Pakistan and Advocate General Balochistan were summoned to the Supreme Court.

The Hazara community has been subjected to several attacks in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan. On Saturday, at least 89 members of the community including women and children were killed when a deadly bomb ripped through a vegetable market on Kirani road.

Following the attack, the Hazara community is staging a sit-in alongside the bodies of the victims on Alamdar road in Quetta. The vice president of the Majlis-e-Wahadat-e-Muslimeen, Maulana Amin Shaheedi says the victims of the blast will not be buried and nationwide protests will continue unless restrictions are placed on banned organizations and the army is handed over control of Quetta.
