Country came into being on August 14, 1947, celebrates occasion with zeal

It has been 77 years since Pakistan came into being and the nation is celebrating the occasion with tremendous zeal and fervour today.

Ceremonies were held all over the country including the high commission offices abroad.

The day in Pakistan began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and a 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals. Sirens rang out at 7:58am, minutes before the flag-hoisting ceremony at 8am. 

Just as always, the nation is beaming with pride and offered its gratitude for the freedom it achieved on August 14 , 1947.
