Sports Museum to be developed in Nawa Khali: Aqil Shah
PESHAWAR: Sports Museum will be developed in Nawa Khali, an area known for producing seven world champion in Squash who ruled the world for 37 long years, Provincial Minister Aqil Shah said while addressing a public meeting of the sports circle here at Qayyum Sports Complex on Thursday.

The public meeting comprising of sports circle and newly elected members of the Nawa Khali Sports Association, Syed Aqil Shah, said that for the first time in the history of games a record 30 million sports
gears would be distributed in all districts including the area - Nawa
Khali - which is famous for producing seven world champions of squash.

He said sports goods imported from the China would be reaching Peshawar this month and would be distributed in all districts so that to promote different sports at grassroots level.

Aqil Shah disclosed that in the Shaheed Abad area of PK-4 a sports coaching center over a 12.5 kanals of land would be constructed wherein it has facilities for all indoor games besides field events.

He said it was also proposed that the sports museum would be constructed at Qamar Zaman Squash Complex but we are in search of a proper land in the jurisdiction of Nawa Khali.

He said our first priority is to construct the museum in Nawa Khali to pay tribute to the seven world champions besides other players of Tennis, Football and cricket hailing from Nawa Khali.

The museum has all records of the Seven World Champions, and all things related to them. The Museum will carry photographs of the World Champions as well, he added.

The meeting was also attended by former World Champion Qamar Zaman, former World No.2 Mohib Ullah, Director Sports PSB Coaching Center Peshawar, Director General Directorate of Sports Iltaf Umerzai, officials of the Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, newly elected members of the Nawa Khali Sports Association, elders of the area, and players were also present.

Syed Aqil Shah lauded the efforts of the Nawa Khali Sports Association working for the promotion of Sports. He said former World Champion Qamar Zaman and Jansher Khan are the part and parcel of the Association and are working dedicatedly for the promotion of healthy activities in Nawa Khali and all the adjacent areas.

He said soon distribution of sports equipments, sports gears of different games would be distributed in 25 various 'Hujra'.

He said Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti desired to have sports activities at Tehsil and District levels and that is why the Directorate of Sports taken the step of organizing different sports events at Uniono Council, Inter-District and Inter-Region levels besides holding Inter-Provincial and National events.

The members of the Nawa Khali Association and Sports circles lauded Syed Aqil Shah for holding record activities all across the province and extended all out support to him for the future. (APP)
