ISLAMABAD: The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has launched over 4,000 postcards into space to mark the ongoing Space Week celebrations.

The postcards were delivered to space through the NS-27 New Shepard mission for the ‘Post Cards to Space’ initiative, which was organised as part of a collaboration between World Space Week Association (WSWA), Jeff Bezos-backed Blue Origin and Suparco.

Thousands of students from various schools across Pakistan participated in this inclusive activity and designed the postcards which were then submitted to the organisation, The News reported.

The postcards recently embarked on their celestial journey aboard Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket.

The postcards are set to return to Earth with a special 'Flown to Space' stamp, according to officials.

They said that the Suparco had been one of the top national coordinators globally in the rankings of WSWA in terms of the number of activities conducted across Pakistan during the United Nations declared World Space Week, since 2005.

According to officials, WSWA invited Suparco to partner for this engaging activity as a symbol of appreciation and encouragement for the thousands of children across the country.

They added that serving as a canvas for their imagination, the postcards allowed participants to draw, colour, or write about their space dreams or any other space-inspired ideas.
