DUBAI: President Asif Ali Zardari suffered a leg fracture while disembarking from a plane at Dubai airport last night, a spokesperson of the President's House said on Thursday.
According to the spokesperson, the president was immediately shifted to a hospital for first aid and his leg was plastered by doctors following his check-up.
Zardari has been shifted to home and doctors advised him to complete a four-week rest due to his plastered leg, it added.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi prayed for President Zardari speedy recovery following his foot injury.
"During this time, may he find strength and resilience. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, and we look forward to his swift return to serve our nation," he wrote in a X post.
PPP leader Sehar Kamran also reacted to Zardari's injury and prayed for his speedy recovery and complete healing.
"He is an icon of strength & courage for all of us; his resilience and determination inspire us all. Allah Almighty may bless him with good health and long life, Aameen," she wrote.
In September 2022, Zardari, who is also the PPP co-chairman, was admitted to a private hospital in Karachi's Clifton area due to lung infection.
Subsequently, the same year in October, the former president was discharged from hospital and shifted to Bilawal House in the metropolis.
Back then, Zardari’s illness had sparked rumours of his precarious condition, however, his personal physician Dr Asim Hussain repudiated the reports circulating on social media platforms.
He had also contracted COVID-19 with mild symptoms in July 2022, his son and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had shared the update on X, adding that his father was not only vaccinated but had also received booster shots of the coronavirus vaccine.
