ISLAMABAD: Armed muggers looted mobile phone, cash and valuables from Senate Deputy Director Media Muhammad Asadullah Khan and his family in Islamabad on Friday.

The robbery incident took place near the Rawal Town area where two armed men on a motorcycle stopped Asadullah's family and looted Rs600,000 cash and valuables at gunpoint.

The affected Senate officer filed a complaint at Shehzad Town Police Station. According to the complaint, the dacoits stopped the family, including Asadullah's brother and children, near the Rawal Town area.

In the robbery, the armed robbers snatched a mobile phone, two wallets with Rs600,000 cash and a bag with CNIC, ATM cards, cheque book, and stamp. The muggers then managed to flee from the scene.

The Senate officer requested police authorities to take action against the culprits.

Last month, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi had directed law enforcement to ramp up efforts to eliminate crime from the federal capital, underscoring the need for strict crime prevention and security measures.

The IGP reviewed the city's crime statistics and preventive measures, giving firm instructions for swift arrests of suspects involved in serious offenses like robbery, murder, and street crimes.

He stressed the importance of gathering strong evidence in ongoing investigations to ensure successful prosecutions.

IG Rizvi highlighted the need for intensified efforts to tackle high-priority issues, urging officers to focus on areas notorious for crime and to uphold the safety and dignity of Islamabad's residents.
