Seven additional judges of PHC take oath
PESHAWAR: Chief Justice, Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Dost Muhammad Khan administered oath to seven additional judges of the court during an impressive ceremony here on Tuesday.

Those who were administered oath as additional judges of PHC include Syed Afsar Shah, Lal Jan Khattak, Akramullah Khan, Abid Latif Khan, Muhammad Daud Khan, Ms Musharrat Hilali and Malik Manzoor Hussain.

The number of judges of PHC have raised to 18 after appointment of these additional judges. On March 23, President Asif Ali Zardari on the advice of Prime Minister had approved the appointment of seven additional judges of PHC for a period of one year.

The oath taking ceremony was attended by judges of PHC, subordinate courts, senior lawyers, advocates and members of legal fraternity in large number.

Senior constitutional lawyer, Barrister Bacha Khan has welcomed the appointment of new additional judges in PHC and said that it would help address the problems of pendency and will speedy dispose of cases.

With appointment of these new additional judges, he said it would reduce burden on judges as for as cases are concerned and will provide speedy justice to litigants.
