HYDERABAD: Like other parts of the country, the Hindus community here celebrated the Holi festival on Tuesday by splashing colours on each other, singing hymns and offering special prayers for the prosperity of country and the minorities.
The Holi festival in the city was celebrated in Grupat Temple, Siroghat area.
The festivities at Grupat Temple started with Puja Paat followed by the traditional Holi, an extravaganza of colours. The festivities also included lighting of small fires.
Then the participants painted each other with colours followed by the distribution of Parsad. The ceremonies concluded after the prayers.
Members of the Hindu Panchayat Association, advocate Parkash, advocate Jagdesh, former MPA Eashwar Lal, Dr. Sri Chand, Shankar Lal and others while talking to APP, said that prayers for Pakistan were being offered at all temples on Holi.
They said that the government had provided maximum possible facilities to all the minorities and it had planned to restore almost all minority religious sites in the country.
They said that sometimes due to misunderstandings among people, created by vested interests for achieving their personal goals, the pace of progress and prosperity was affected.
They also underlined the need of forging unity irrespective of religion, creed and caste and making a joint struggle with hard-work, sincerity and honesty for the development of country.
They also strongly criticized the extremism and terrorism, terming it against the code of conduct of Islam and said that all, including Muslims and the minorities, should have equal rights in the country.
They also called upon the politicians and bureaucrats to work with honesty, dedication and devotion and guide the nation to the path of progress and prosperity so that the country could be able to play a leading role in the world community. (APP)
