LONDON: PML-N President Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday departed for Geneva from London on a four-day trip to join his daughter Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab.

“I’ll speak on political issues after my return from Geneva,” Nawaz said while responding to a question by The News. He was asked to comment on the victory of Donald Trump in the US elections in a historic swing but he didn’t answer the question.

The former three-time prime minister confirmed he is going to Geneva to be with Nawaz who was supposed to reach there late on Wednesday for a hospital treatment.

After spending some time in Geneva, both Maryam and Nawaz are likely to head to London. Nawaz said he will be returning to London and will spend time here for a week and then return to Pakistan. Maryam, sources said, is unlikely to visit London due to her commitments in the province.

It is noteworthy that Maryam has been suffering from a throat infection for some time, and there are indications that she may undergo surgery under the guidance of her doctors.
