Donald Trump, after achieving a decisive landmark victory in the US presidential elections, has now emerged as the 47th President of the United States of America.
According to media reports, he has managed to secure at least 295 electoral votes, well over the 270 required for winning the White House. His opponent Kamala Harris from the Democratic Party has urged her supporters to accept the results.
In my previous column published last week, I had pointed out that Republican Donald Trump's horoscope reflects a strong personality who is blessed with fortune to overcome any crisis. “Trump, born on June 14, 1946, belongs to the zodiac sign Gemini. Interestingly, the current year is believed to be a year of success for those belonging to the Gemini”. This is what I had forecasted.
The recent elections are being considered historic in many aspects. Vice President Kamala Harris tried her best to become the first woman president in US history, while Trump was keen on returning to the White House once again after losing the previous presidential elections, held in 2020.
After Trump's victory speech, the attention of the world media has now focused on what the effects of Trump's return to the White House will be? There is no doubt that Trump tried hard to project himself as a truly American national leader during his last term. The slogans 'America First' and 'Make America Great Again' reached the peak of popularity among his supporters. Trump's historic visit to North Korea as president is still fresh in the minds of peace-loving people around the world.
Although the recent US elections are unlikely to have any direct impact on the current Pakistani scenario, Trump took a tough stance on Pakistan in the past. In particular, some of his controversial statements regarding Pakistan, Afghanistan and global terrorism succeeded in making news headlines.
As a result, some analysts are concerned that Trump's victory may affect bilateral cooperation and diplomatic ties. Unlike US President Joe Biden, Trump could change the US policy on Afghanistan with a direct impact on neighbouring Pakistan. There is also a risk that the balance of regional power could be disturbed due to current unrest in the Middle East.
Historically, Pakistan-US bilateral relations have seen significant improvement during the era of Republicans. If there was some misunderstanding during Democratic Jimmy Carter presidency, Pakistan emerged as a front-line ally of the US under the Republican President Ronald Reagan.
If Bill Clinton took a tough stance against Pakistan in response to the nuclear tests, the two countries joined hands after 9/11 during the Republican President George W Bush's tenure. The Abbottabad incident unfolded during the Democrat Barack Obama's regime, while President Trump's desire to visit Pakistan and find a peaceful solution to the long-standing Kashmir issue won the hearts of the Pakistani nation.
During the recent elections, several attempts to sabotage the electoral process and Trump's tweet regarding the interference of law-enforcement agencies in the US elections endorsed the astrological predictions that entering the White House would not be so easy. It is worth mentioning that President Joe Biden was declared the winner four days after the 2020 elections.
In my view, Trump's return means that he has cured his past mistakes and now, in the year of Karma, astrology looks to be in his favour. It is the right time for Trump to demonstrate that he is determined about the establishment of world peace, as well as to make America great again. Astrology further predicts that Trump will reach the peak of his success in April 2025.
