Fact-check: Aitzaz Ahsan did not accuse two SC judges of facilitating political party

Geo Fact Check reviews all publicly available interviews, statements by Ahsan for Oct, finds no such remarks

Posts circulating on social media claim that politician and lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan has accused two senior Supreme Court judges, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Munib Akhtar, of facilitating a political party.

The claim is false.

Claim

On October 23, a user on X (formerly Twitter) posted a graphic with the caption: "His [Aitzaz Ahsan’s] conscience has also awakened."

The graphic featured an image of politician and lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan, accompanied by a statement attributed to him: "The humiliation that Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Munib Akhtar have had to go through for facilitating political parties should be an example for others."

This post had been viewed over 39,000 times, liked over 1,700 times and reposted over 540 times, at the time of writing.

There is no evidence that Aitzaz Ahsan has publicly accused Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Munib Akhtar of bias.

Geo Fact Check reviewed all publicly available interviews and statements by Ahsan for the month of October and found no such remarks.

Additionally, Aitzaz Ahsan has also denied the claim, stating: "This is fake news. I have not made any such remark," he said over the phone. "I have not given any [such] statement in which the names of [Justice] Mansoor Ali Shah and [Justice] Munib Akhtar have appeared."
