LAHORE: Faisalabad Wolves qualified for the final of the Faysal Bank Super-Eight Twenty20 Cup defeating Lahore Lions by two runs after a sensational contest here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
Pakistan Test and ODI skipper Misbah-ul-Haq was leading the Faisalabad Wolves team while Pakistan T20 captain Mohammad Hafeez was captaining the Lahore Lions team in the low-scoring first semi-finals of the tournament.
Chasing an easy target of 126, Lahore Lions were all out for 123 in 20 overs – just three runs short – despite good batting performances by Nasir Jamshed (46) and Hafeez (36), Both added 57 valuable runs for the second wicket but no other batsman could make any significant contribution.
For Faisalabad Wolves, fast bowler Ehsan Adil claimed three and Imran Khalid two wickets.
Earlier, Faisalabad batted first after winning the toss and were restricted to 125 for eight in the allotted 20 overs.
Khurram Shahzad top-scored with 27 while Imran Khalid remained not out on 20.
For Lahore Lions, off-spinners Hafeez and Adnan Rasool claimed three for 30 and two for 27, repectively.
Ehsan Adil was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match for his allround performance.
