Miley Cyrus' mom Tish explains why she parted ways with Billy Ray

Miley Cyrus' mother, Tish Cyrus, finally broke the silence on her separation from her ex-husband, Billy Ray Cyrus.

During an appearance on the latest episode of Sibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson podcast, the 57-year-old film producer revealed that she “never wanted to be divorced.”

"I never wanted to be divorced, [But] for us, you’re in the public eye, and the world that we exist in is already so odd and sometimes unstable,” explained Tish when asked about her fractured relationship with her ex.

Recalling her efforts to repair her relationship with Billy, she confessed that "I wanted to make it work, probably for a little too long, which took a toll on my mental health.”

“Eventually, I reached a point where I felt I had no choice but to move on,” Tish added.

The mother-of-five further shared that she never assumed her split from Billy would have harmed her family drastically.

For those unversed, Tish and Billy called it quits in April 2022, and the former couple shares three children - Miley, 32, Noah 24, and Braison, 30.
