The rumoured salaries of the cast of Wicked have gone viral on social media, raising questions over a significant gap between its two main actors.

According to Daily Mail, the alleged list mentioned a huge pay gap between the two main stars, Cynthia Erivo, who depicts Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West, and Ariana Grande, who portrays Glinda the Good Witch.

In the rumoured salary list, Erivo was reportedly paid $1 million, while Grande was said to be making over ten times that amount.

The 31-year-old Grande is reportedly getting paid $15 million for her role in the movie adaptation.

On the other hand, Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh, who play the Wizard and Madame Morrible, respectively, are reportedly earning $2 million each.

The alleged salary list also includes the rest of the main cast members, including Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, who is reportedly earning just under half a million, with his pay listed as $450,000.

Ethan Slater, the boyfriend of Grande, is reportedly making $350,000 for the role of Boq.

As per the rumoured list, Bowen Yang and Marissa Bode are each said to be earning $250,000.

Moreover, fans took to their social media and articulated their thoughts.

One person wrote, “Ariana getting paid over $10M more than Cynthia doesn't sit right with me...”

“Ariana getting paid $15m and Cynthia getting paid $1m is diabolic,” another commented.

The third scribbled, “Y'all always kill me when discussing this topic, why on Earth would they get the same??? They do not bring the same amount of people to the theatre...”

It is pertinent to mention that Wicked has broken records for the highest opening weekend numbers for a Broadway movie, raking in $270.2 million in global box office.
