King Charles reacts to major announcement about Duchess Sophie

King Charles and Queen Camilla have reacted to a major announcement about Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh.

The Plan International UK charity announced on its official X, formerly Twitter and Instagram handles that Duchess Sophie will be its new Royal Patron.

The charity said, “We’re delighted to announce our new Royal Patron, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh.

“As a champion of women’s rights, The Duchess visited the Chad-Sudan border last month to witness firsthand the impact of the conflict and met with young women and girls supported by Plan International UK.”

It further said, “Today on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we are reminded of the importance having champions raising greater awareness about the barriers facing girls in times of crisis. We look forward to working together with The Duchess to drive forward equality around the world.”

Reacting to the announcement, the palace on behalf of the King and Queen reshared the post on X saying “The Duchess of Edinburgh has been announced as Patron of @PlanUK.”

Also, commenting on the Instagram post, the royals said, “We look forward to working together.”
