Keanu Reeves puts on Shadow boots for 'Sonic 3'

Keanu Reeves will appear in Sonic 3 as Shadow the Hedgehog. The actor said he went through an “intense process” of getting into the character.

In a promotional video of the upcoming film, the John Wick star stepped into the recording room and said, “For 50 years, Shadow has been in a state of suspended animation. He's coming out of it seeking revenge.”

He continued, "It was really the internal journey to get to the anger and the emotion. It was intense,” adding, "Sonic 3 and playing Shadow, it's really on another level.”

Apart from him, Jim Carrey, who played Dr. Robotnik, reacted to The Matrix star’s casting, saying, "When I heard that Keanu Reeves wanted to play Shadow I went, 'Oh alright.'

"Then I went [gestures a come at me sign]," he jokes, before going on to add: "Shadow has that sympathetic, brooding kind of darkness that Keanu has mastered so brilliantly."

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will hit theaters on Dec 21, 2024.
