Residents of Islamabad woke up to a tense calm on Wednesday after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced a "temporary suspension" of its "do-or-die" protest following a midnight crackdown by the law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

The protest, which began three days ago on November 24, saw road and educational institutions' closures, suspension of mobile services, and the supporters of Imran Khan-founded party clashing with the law enforcers.

The PTI's central media cell issued a press release, saying, "In light of the government's brutality and plans to turn the federal capital into a slaughterhouse for unarmed citizens, we are announcing the temporary suspension of our peaceful protest."

The former ruling party said that it would announce the future course of action in the light of guidance from the incarcerated party founder.

The PTI also said that at least eight of its members were killed in the stand-off, while government officials say that three Rangers personnel were martyred along with two other police personnel.

Let's take a look at the aftermath of the PTI protest in the federal capital.
