Jimmy Fallon isn’t letting anything stop him from participating in the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The Tonight Show host has been a regular at the annual New York City event, often riding alongside The Roots on a festive float.
However, years of enthusiastic waving during the three-hour parade seem to have taken a toll.
According to People, Fallon recently revealed that he’s been dealing with persistent elbow pain, diagnosed as “golfer’s elbow” by his doctor.
Moreover, in regards to this, Fallon shared during an interview promoting his Alex Mill collaboration and new album Holiday Seasoning, “The doctor said, ‘I think you have golfer’s elbow,’ and I was like, ‘No way — I barely golf!’ I think I got it from waving on the float. Maybe even the Queen of England has had this ailment. I’m one of the few with ‘waver’s elbow.’”
Despite the lingering discomfort, Fallon is determined to participate in this year’s celebration as he assured fans by saying, “You can’t stop me from waving. When you see me waving this year, just know I’m giving 110%—you don’t even have to wave back. In fact, I’d rather you not. I don’t want this happening to anyone else.”
As per the publication, Fallon first appeared at the parade in 2009 on Gibson Guitars’ float and has returned eight times since.
Meanwhile, once the parade wraps up, he shifts his focus to family festivities as Fallon and his wife, Nancy Juvonen, host a Thanksgiving meal, with the comedian in charge of a nostalgic side dish: creamed onions, a nod to his late grandmother.
In this regard, Fallon admitted, “It’s not necessarily good, but we take turns trying it and think of her. It’s our way of remembering.”
As per the outlet, this year, Fallon and his family also kicked off the holiday season by starring in the campaign for his P’Jimmies collaboration with Alex Mill, featuring cozy, colorful pajamas modeled by Fallon, Juvonen and their daughters Winnie and Frances.
