KARACHI/ LONDON: Muttahida Quami Movement Chief Altaf Hussain on Friday expressed strong concerns over questions being asked by the Returning Officers from election candidates and said they were aimed at humiliating the politicians.
Addressing party workers by telephone he said: “nomination papers of a candidate were rejected only because he wrote a column on Ideology of Pakistan”, a reference towards veteran journalist and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate from Chakwal Ayaz Amir.
He said the questions were creating serious doubts over holding of general election on time. Altaf Hussain said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Parliament should define ideology of Pakistan.
Altaf Hussain demanded of the electoral body to delay elections by 15 to 30 days as it would be difficult task to complete scrutiny of the nomination papers within the stipulated time. Mr Hussain said that delaying election for 15 to 30 days would not make any difference.
