Kendrick Lamar may be releasing a deluxe version of his surprise, sixth album, GNX.
As per Lefty GunPlay, who appeared on the viral GNX track, TV Off, in his interview with Bootleg Kev, he revealed that the award-winning rapper still has “some stuff in the chamber,” with respect to his work on the recently released project.
“I know he’s got a deluxe version coming out. He’s very secretive,” he added.
Revealing the “secretive” process behind collaborating with the Not Like Us hitmaker, GunPlay revealed that all of the artists who worked on GNX had to sign non-disclosure agreements before making “two, three songs” with Lamar.
He continued, “Everybody thought I was playing – I wasn’t. I almost blew it ’cause we signed NDAs and I couldn’t wait to tell everybody.”
“We had to sign NDAs and they were like, ‘You’re going [in the studio] with Kendrick’, and it didn’t hit me ’til he walked in there and gave me a hug. He’s been locked in with me since April and he said that I’m the missing piece that the West Coast needed […] He told me that we’re going to work again, for sure,” GunPlay mentioned.
On November 22, Kendrick Lamar surprised the world with his album, GNX, a follow-up to his Grammy-winning Mr Morales & The Big Steppers.
It features SZA and productions from the likes of Jack Antonoff, Kamasi Washington, Mustard, Terrace Martin and Sounwave.
GNX is also expected to debut at the top spot on the Billboard 200, with the potential of it becoming Lamar’s fifth consecutive chart-topping album.
