Samuel L. Jackson, a legendary actor, recently got candid and shared his witty take on a Hollywood milestone.

During his recent interview with the Associated Press to promote his Netflix movie titled The Piano Lesson, Jackson joked that he has been in the business long enough not to focus on the Oscars race.

He said he does not let "buzz or hype" about a project or role "affect" his work.

Making co-star Michael Potts and the interviewer laugh off-screen, the MCU star quipped, “Folks will go, 'Well, it’s just an honor to be nominated.’ No, it ain’t,” and added, It’s an honor to win.”

The 75-year-old star articulated, “You get nominated; folks will go, 'Yeah, yeah, I remember that’ or most people forget.”

"Generally, it’s a contest you didn’t volunteer to be in,” Timberlake remarked.

He mentioned that he does not go there, so he “could flex” and highlighted that “I was never going to let the Oscars be a measure of my success or failure as an actor.”

“My yardstick of success is my happiness: Am I satisfied with what I’m doing? I’m not doing statue-chasing movies,” Timberlake concluded by saying.

For the unversed, in 2022, The Avengers actor received an honorary Oscar from his friend Denzel Washington at the Governors Awards.

He was also nominated for best supporting actor for his role in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction.

It is pertinent to mention that The Piano Lesson, a film adaptation of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, came out on August 31, 2024.
