Prince and Princess of Wales were reportedly protected by the late Queen during early years of their marriage.

Royal author Andrew Morton has shared that the late Queen was very mindful to not overwhelm Prince William and Kate Middleton with the royal responsibilities, as per Mirror report.

“The Queen remembered her own early days in her marriage, when she had her happiest time in Malta. So she was very mindful of the fact that these young couples shouldn't have to harness themselves to doing endless royal duties," Andrew shares.

Kate and William embraced their roles as Prince and Princess of Wales after Queen Elizabeth’s death in 2022.

Despite their growing public responsibilities William and Kate continued to focus on their family.

It is worth mentioning that this balance was crucial during William’s personal challenges including Kate and King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.

Andrew said, “The Queen was great in terms of character, whether it be horses or people. She'll have seen in William that he was someone who was prepared to sacrifice elements of his own privacy and life to be an active member of the royal family – which he's become.”

He also added that the late Queen would have been very proud of how William is managing his royal role.
