Angelina Jolie revealed she believes that her work has improved with age in a recent interview.

Starring as opera singer Maria Callas in her latest film Maria, Jolie reflected on the differences between herself and the late singer, expressing that she does not feel her power diminishing with age.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, the mother of six stated, “I’ve received better work as I’ve grown older.”

According to Daily Mail, Jolie added, “It’s not just about the roles offered but about the life experience you bring to them.”

Moreover, Jolie noted that acting is more forgiving than careers like singing or dancing as physical changes are less restrictive.

While she admires Callas’ dedication to her craft, Jolie disagreed with the singer’s aging as she claimed, “Maria is vulnerable because she feels deeply and struggles to shield herself from loneliness and emotional pain. For her, as for me, living through your connection with the audience is vital.”

As per the publication, the Maleficent star also reflected on her early career, describing her intense commitment without method acting, which at one point led her to briefly step away from acting as she shared, “As a young actor, you say yes to everything—horse riding, new languages—you learn as you go.”

With an Oscar for Girl, Interrupted (1999) and international fame from roles like Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jolie continue to redefine her craft.

Now, her portrayal of Maria Callas, exploring the opera singer’s final days in 1970s Paris, has sparked Oscars buzz.

The film, directed by Pablo Larrain, premiered at the Venice Film Festival and will release on Netflix December 11.
