KARACHI: Nomination papers of Pakistan’s former strongman Pervez Musharraf for Karachi, Islamabad and Kasur constituencies have been rejected while his candidacy for a Chitral National Assembly constituency was accepted on Sunday, Geo News reported.
The nomination papers of the former military dictator, who returned to Pakistan on March 24 to take part in Pakistan's historic elections, have been rejected from NA-250 Karachi constituency.
Musharraf's candidature for NA-48 Islamabad was also rejected over objection submitted by a lawyers' body and others.
The complainants said that the former president ousted a democratically elected government in 1999 and also deposed judges of the Supreme Court.
His nomination papers were also rejected from Kasur NA-139 in Punjab. The former president had filed nominations from four constituencies.
Former Karachi mayor Naimaitullah Khan and Ikhtiar Ali Chenoi have objected to Musharraf’s candidature over his alleged involvement in the murders of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and Benazir Bhutto and deposing judges of Supreme Court.
