Timothee Chalamet offered to contribute to his lookalike contest financially.
The event organiser Anthony Po found himself in hot waters when NYPD interrupted the contest for holding a public event at Washington Square Park without a permit.
Thousands of attendees who showed up were ousted and Anthony was issued a $500 fine over the violation—which caught the attention of the Dune star, 28, who was also competing against his lookalikes anonymously.
"They offered to pay the ticket, which is truly funny," Anthony spilled to People Magazine over a month after the October 27 event.
However, Anthony, 23, turned down the generous offer as he justified to the press that the amount he was fined was small compared to the overall price of hosting the contest.
"The production [cost] like $4,000, so it's like legit the best case scenario," he told the publication. "They need to do something stronger to [disincentivise] us."
Chalamet's people also relayed some praise from the actor himself, "They basically [said] like, 'We thought it was awesome. Thanks so much,'" Anthony added. "It was all good and fun."
Anthony didn't actually get to meet or see Chalamet at the event, but the actor was included in the official ranking of lookalikes after the contest concluded.
Despite being the real deal among dupes, the American-French actor only came in around 13th place.
"I think if he would've stayed for the end of it, maybe I would've given him runner-up or something," Anthony explained, adding that the Little Women star's mustache threw off his usual curly-haired, clean-shaven look sported by most contest entrants.
Although the winner Miles Mitchell, 21, also missed the opportunity to recognise Chalamet amid the chaos, it was the runner-up of the day, Zander Dueve, who managed to spot him.
"I saw the very top of his head through the Washington Square Arch. I just saw his hat and his eyebrows, because you can't miss those," the outlet quoted the Atlanta-based doppelgänger.
"He looked the least like himself out of everyone," Dueve, 22, seconded with Anthony over Chalamet's appearance.
