Madonna is opening up about her first Thanksgiving after the demise of her brother Christopher and stepmom Joan.

The Grammy winner, 66, took to Instagram with a carousel full of family snaps from her Thanksgiving weekend spent with her six kids Lourdes, 28, Rocco, 24, David, 19, Mercy, 18, and twins Stella and Estere, 12, as well as her dad Silvio Ciccone.

The slideshow began with many pictures taken from their farms and the rest were taken indoors.

"We are born into families and we create our own," Madonna began her emotional caption.

"As time goes by I am more and more appreciative of these microcosms of life that Dance around me and teach me lessons every day."

The pop star then recalled the recent deaths of her brother Christopher in October and her stepmom Joan in September, sharing, "My Family has experienced many losses this year."

She then lauded Silvio, 93, for his strength throughout each loss, "My father has endured with Dignity," she wrote. "Watching him cry in the cemetery when we buried my brother Christopher–right after he lost his wife. Was a moment I will never forget."

She concluded the note, saying, "Spending time with him and all my children on Thanksgiving was Medicine for the Soul."

On September 24, Joan Clare Ciccone died at age 81 "after a brief encounter with a very aggressive cancer. Only a month later, Christopher 'Chris' Gerard Ciccone died of cancer at 63 on October 4.
