Fact-check: Video falsely claims Hrithik Roshan supports Imran Khan

The actual video shows the Indian actor wishing a fan happy birthday

A TikTok video that has been viewed nearly two million times is being shared with the claim that it shows Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan expressing his support for Pakistan’s jailed former prime minister Imran Khan.

The claim is false, and the video has been edited.

Claim

On September 13, a TikTok user posted an 11-second video recorded by Indian actor Hrithik Roshan purportedly for Khan. In it, he allegedly asks people to comment on the video to show their love for the Pakistani politician.

“Love you Imran Khan. Love you Pakistan,” the actor says at the end of the video.

The video has been liked and shared 287,800 and 6,809 times, respectively, at the time of writing.

On November 3, another social media user also posted the same video on YouTube.

Fact

This viral claim misrepresents Roshan’s words and intentions.

A reverse image search by Geo Fact Check revealed that the original video was recorded at least three years ago, likely in 2021, when Hrithik Roshan filmed a birthday message for a fan named Shivam.

In the unedited version of the video, Roshan actually says:"Hello, Shivam, my friend! How are you? Wishing you a very happy belated birthday. Putting it out there in the universe for all the positivity to bounce right back at you. Stay healthy, happy, and safe."

The original video, available on YouTube, can be viewed here.
