Camila Cabello has opened up about her time in Fifth Harmony.
The songstress was part of the girl band along with Normani, Dinah Jane, Ally Brooke and Lauren Jauregui since its formation in 2012. However, Cabello exited in December 2016.
Speaking with Nylon, Cabello reflected on her time in the band, admitting that she was “struggling more than a normal teenager should” in the spotlight.
“It’s hard to say what’s normal, whether you’re famous or not. My barometer wasn’t functional. It was more than a person should bear [in that situation],” Cabello added.
Additionally, Cabello also talked about the importance of “conflict resolution” in any group.
“I think conflict resolution is really important, especially when it comes to a group. those are skills you don’t have when you’re 16 years old,” she said, adding, “How do you deal with being left out? How do you deal with jealousy? How do you deal with these things without hurting yourself or other people?”
After her exit from the band, Cabello shared a statement that read, “As sad as it is to see this chapter ending this way, I will continue to root them all on as individuals and as a group, I wish nothing but the best for them, all the success in the world and true happiness.”
