Ralph Fiennes, known for his chilling portrayal of Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter films, endorsed the idea of Cillian Murphy taking on the iconic role in HBO’s upcoming television adaptation of J.K Rowling’s novels.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Monday, December 2, Fiennes responded to rumors about Murphy potentially playing the Dark Lord.
In regards to this, he said about the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer star, “Cillian is a fantastic actor. That’s a wonderful suggestion. I would be all in favor of Cillian. Yeah.”
According to People, Fiennes joined the Harry Potter franchise in Goblet Of Fire and reprised the role of Voldemort in subsequent films, leaving a lasting impression with his sinister portrayal.
Meanwhile, he previously expressed interest in returning to the role, Fiennes seemed open to passing the torch to Murphy for the highly anticipated HBO reboot.
Moreover, the series, helmed by Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, is set to reimagine Rowling’s beloved books for television, though casting details remain under wraps.
Additionally, Rowling, serving as an executive producer, praised the creative team’s vision and expressed confidence in the project.
Furthermore, Murphy, fresh off his Oscar win for Oppenheimer, is currently working on The Immortal Man, while Fiennes’ latest film, The Return, hits theaters on December 6.
