Eminem's brother expresses 'hatred and mixed emotions' over mother's demise

Eminem’s half-brother Nathan "Nate" Mathers just broke silence over his mother’s death.

In a deep yet concise five-word long post on Instagram, a day after the demise of Debbie Nelson, Nate wrote, “Hatred and mixed emotions today," via the app’s Stories feature.

For the unversed, Nelson, the mother to rap legend Eminem and Nate, died from lung cancer, in St. Joseph, Mo., on Monday, Dec. 2, which was confirmed to PEOPLE magazine by the Rap God hitmaker’s representative.

Nelson gave birth to the now 38-year-old music producer, Nathan, with her boyfriend, Fred Samra, when Eminem was 13 years old.

Previously, she was married to Marshall Mathers Jr., the father to the Mockingbird rapper. The pair welcomed the popular rapper in 1972.

Eminem was later declared as Nathan’s legal guardian when the latter was just 16 after remaining in foster care for almost an entire decade.

However, the two share a very close bond as seen on Eminem’s daughter, Hailie Jade’s podcast, Just a Little Shady, where Nathan, in 2023, said, "He (Eminem) was the best role model I could have had to help me be the dad that I am today."
