David Beckham recently shared devastating news that has left him shattered and heartbroken.
Beckham’s close friend Kath Phipps, who worked as part of Manchester United's office staff and was the club's training ground receptionist in recent years, has died at the age of 85.
On December 6, 2024, the renowned footballer took to his Instagram and posted a picture holding Kath's hand in his and added a caption that read, “Forever in our hearts... The first and last face I would always see was Kath, sat at reception at Old Trafford, waiting to give me my tickets for the game; she was the heartbeat of Manchester United.”
The 49-year-old Beckham added, “Everyone knew who Kath was, and everyone adored her... I moved up to Manchester at 15, and Kath made a promise to my mum and dad: ‘I'll look after your boy for you; don't you worry.’”
“And from that first day till the last day I spent with her, that's exactly what she did [a heart emoji]. Old Trafford will never be the same without your smile as we walk through those doors... We love you [a heart emoji],” the star concluded by showing reverence to Kath.
Moreover, as soon as the news broke, Beckham’s daughter-in-law, Nicola Peltz, and former Manchester United player, Phil Neville, were the first who paid homage to Kath in the comments.
Peltz commented, “This is so beautiful [a heart emoji],” while Neville added a heart.
It is pertinent to mention that Kath also appeared in his 2024 Netflix documentary titled Beckham.
