Daniel Craig is sure he wouldn’t have done a movie like Queer while he was James Bond.

"I couldn't have done this while doing Bond," Craig told the U.K.'s Sunday Times. "It would look reactionary, like I was showing my range."

In Queer, Craig plays a drug-addled, melancholic, and flamboyant gay man, which is in stark contrast to Bond.

"Early on with Bond I thought I had to do other work, but I didn't. I was becoming a star, whatever that means, and people wanted me in their films. Incredible."

However, the star noted that doing other films alongside the Bond films left him exhausted.

Craig highlighted that having faced questions about whether James Bond can be gay or female etc, he didn’t want to inflame that conversation any more by doing a film like Queer.

"It's just not a conversation I wanted. I had it all the way through Bond anyway," he said, adding "Could there be this Bond? That Bond? So anything that is going to inflame that conversation? No — life's too short."

Daniel Craig explained: "Sexuality is the least interesting thing to me in this film."
