Nearly a decade has passed, but Benedict Cumberbatch is still rocking his red cape in Marvel as Doctor Strange and intends to carry it further.

In the wake of reports of a third solo film based on his character and his expected upcoming role in the upcoming Avengers films, he called his role a "complex man motivated by a need to control everything at any cost."

"I am interested in seeing where these costs take him," adding, "There is a lot more to play, and it's very exciting."

Doctor Strange was first released in 2016. The film was a critical hit, and Benedict believed it struck a chord with Marvel fans because it showed a new side of the superheroes: a spiritual one.

"It was something we hadn't seen in the MCU, a whole new ground," adding, "Also just what he brings in terms of harnessing power through sheer will. That is a superpower, and, as an origin story, it is pretty rich."

The Sherlock star also expressed his excitement about working with MCU, noting during his appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival that "when they are really good, they capture the zeitgeist, speak to us and our culture," and are " so much fun to do."
