The first look of Cillian Murphy in 28 Years Later starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson has sparked a debate on social media platform.
The upcoming post-apocalyptic horror film’s trailer, which was released on December 10, has been directed by Danny Boyle and co-written with Alex Garland.
The upcoming film is the third installment in the 28 Days Later film series, following 2002’s 28 Days Later and 2007’s 28 Weeks Later.
Apart from Johnson, 28 Years Later also stars Ralph Fiennes, with Murphy reprising his role from the first film.
However, the Oppenheimer star's transformation in the film has caught social media users' attention who joked about his possible appearance, with one quipping, “Cillian Murphy after the effects of a nuclear bomb - 28 Oppenheimer's later.”
Another user wrote, “Method acting that would even shame Christian Bale.”
One of the fans joked about Murphy taking drugs to lose weight as he wrote, “All I did was take Ozempic and chew Styrofoam for 6 months.”
“Be funny if all the infected in 28 Years Later were Cillian Murphy like when all the Men were Rory Kinnear,” another user posted his comment.
A fans wrote, “Why wasn’t Cillian Murphy credited on the ‘28 Years Later’ poster?” “Cindy! This is a skeleton, this is bones.”
28 Years Later is scheduled to be released on June 20, 2025.
