Justin Baldoni looked back fondly on his 30-minute marriage proposal to his wife Emily Baldoni.
Baldoni appeared on Live with Kelly and Mark on Tuesday to promote the Netflix release of It Ends with Us.
The Jane the Virgin star’s wife is also currently traveling with him and was in the audience as he talked to the hosts.
Ripa congratulated the couple on their 11 years of marriage, with Justin commenting “In Hollywood, that’s like, 70 years or something.”
Ripa then brought up the actor/director’s memorable half-hour long proposal video that went viral on social media.
“So you went viral when you got engaged. There was a social media post of your engagement. Apparently you’re lip syncing,” she said, and played a clip from it where Baldoni starred in a pretend music video with a bunch of his close friends in a nod to the Backstreet Boys’ I Want It That Way.
The Five Feet Apart director then revealed that the original proposal video was played to Emily in a restaurant (the same one they had their first date in), while he pretended to be late. Her reactions were filmed in real time.
"It was a 27-minute long proposal video. It was my first movie, actually," Baldoni shared.
“It was a big joke. The whole idea was that I failed at all these proposals because I was proposing in a way that I wanted versus the way she wanted,” he continued.
Justin Baldoni added: “Which is something that I’ve learned in marriage, as I’m sure you guys have learned: how to love somebody in the way that they want to be loved versus the way we wanted to be loved. So that was the whole journey of the proposal."
